First Looks - The First BJD with Natural Shoulder Joints

Today, 15th of June 2016, I am proud to introduce you to my prototype with my originally designed, unique shoulder joints. It allows for the shoulders to shrug and for the doll itself to make the most natural poses.

My prototypes.

My prototypes.

I've spent nearly a year to engineer this body and have gone through 5 different shoulder joint prototypes. I eventually came to this one which was the most mobile and naturally looking; they can not only lift but also slightly shift forward

I created my doll around this shoulder joint when I noticed that in my own photoshoots or just my day to day, my shoulders would naturally be lifted even when I was just relaxed or leaning on the cushion while watchingtv.

I am also proud of the knees and elbows. And maybe they look pretty general nut they are special. They also add to the natural look of the doll without leaving her with square unnatural joints when it's fully bended.

The prototype will eventually be replicated into 55cm BJDs (ball joint dolls) I would cast in resin and launch as my up and coming new BJD line, Pasha Pasha.

Lovely grey! My new head (AKA "mold" in BJD world) for my #PashaPasha doll.

Work in progress.

Work in progress.

Can't wait!

Documentary Short/Interview With Posture Magazine

"Pasha Setrova is a Russian NYC-based sculptor. She creates elongated, moody, and dramatic works that generally stand around 2-3 feet tall. She designs all aspects by hand, including the fashion and accessories. We visited her studio to learn more about her process and understand her environment.

"In Russia, my art didn’t fit into any genres. It wasn’t traditional or folk, it was more contemporary than the general Russian public was used to."

The 'Dirty' Art Show at the Museum of Sex

And after a Valentine’s night of sentiments, chocolate covered strawberries, cheap champagne and last minute hallmark cards, 'DIRTY: The Lovers' Hangover' offers a digestif of sorts to cure you of your lovers’ hangover." So reads the summary of this art show at the Museum of Sex (233 Fifth Ave.), which was curated by Jason DirtyBoogie Rivera & Candice Fortin and invited New Yorkers in from the bitter cold on Sunday, February 15, 2015 to view paintings, photos, video and sculpture of an erotic nature.

All Is Love

Two Thursdays ago Pasha deputed her performance in downtown Soho. Set to the backdrop of Bjork's "All Is Full of Love", the room filled with rushing melodies and happily astonished faces as Pasha appeared with a self-made ironically beautiful garbage bag dress, a haunting sway, and a captivating dance.

Flash and Smoke Photos

Two Thursdays ago, at Ariana Soho, Pasha led her debut of "Flash and Smoke": the artistic experiment where photographers of any professional-like, be it with DSLR cameras or smartphones, could showcase their skills. There, they pushed to let their unique individual styles shine out amongst the crowd while everyone shot the same subject- Pasha. Here are their photos.
